- Jigu Bites mobile applications.
- Jigu Bites restaurant and business services.
- Jigu Bites accounts.
- Communications with Jigu Bites.
- Other services or features that reference this Privacy Policy.
It applies to information collected directly from you as well as information generated through your use of our Services.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Jigu Bites, we may collect different categories of information, including:
- Account and profile information
- Authentication information
- Restaurant and business information
- Reviews, ratings, posts, comments, and photos
- Messages
- Location information
- Device and technical information
- Usage and analytics information
- Payment information
- Communication preferences
- Information submitted through support requests
- Information required for business verification
- Other information you voluntarily provide
We do not necessarily collect every category of information from every user.
3. Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, username, profile information, password or authentication-related information, profile photograph, and other information you choose to provide. You should provide accurate information and use an email address that you control. If you use Google or another third-party authentication method, certain information may be provided to us by that authentication provider according to the permissions and settings associated with the authentication process.
4. Authentication and OTP Information
Jigu Bites may use email, SMS, OTP, Google authentication, Firebase services, or other authentication mechanisms. We may process information necessary to create and verify accounts, authenticate users, recover accounts, prevent fraud, protect accounts, and send authentication messages. OTP codes should be treated as confidential. Jigu Bites will not intentionally ask you to publicly disclose your authentication codes or passwords.
5. Profile Information
Users may choose to provide a profile photograph, banner photograph, biography, interests, username, and other profile information. Users may have the ability to make their social profile public or private.
6. Public Profiles
If you choose to have a public profile, information you publish may be visible to other users and potentially accessible through the internet. Public profile information may include your username, profile photograph, banner photograph, public posts, followers and following information, and other information that you choose to make public. You should not publish information that you do not want to make publicly available.
7. Private Profiles
Jigu Bites may allow users to make their social profiles private. When your profile is private, certain social content may be restricted to permitted users according to the functionality of the platform. However, restaurant reviews are public. Making your profile private does not automatically make your restaurant reviews private. Other information that you intentionally publish publicly may also remain public.
8. Reviews and Ratings
When you publish a restaurant review or rating, information associated with the review may be publicly visible, including your displayed name or username, profile photograph where applicable, review text, rating, photographs attached to the review, date or approximate timing, the restaurant being reviewed, and other information displayed as part of the review. Reviews are intended to remain public even when a user's social profile is private.
9. Posts and Social Content
If you create posts, comments, lists, or other social content, we process and store that information to provide the relevant features. Depending on your privacy settings, this content may be visible to other users, your followers, selected users, restaurants, or the public. You should review your privacy settings before publishing content.
10. Photos and Media
You may upload photographs and, as additional media functionality becomes available, videos. Uploaded content may contain information about you, other people, locations, restaurants, food, events, objects, and other identifiable information. You are responsible for considering whether you have appropriate permission to upload photographs or other media containing other people.
11. Messages and DMs
Jigu Bites may provide private messaging functionality between users and, where supported, between users and businesses. Messages may be processed and stored to provide messaging functionality. We respect the privacy of private communications. However, private messages may be accessed when reasonably necessary for purposes such as investigating reports or abuse, preventing fraud, protecting users, investigating security incidents, enforcing our policies, or complying with legal obligations. We do not access private communications simply because they exist.
12. Location Information
Jigu Bites may request access to location information to provide location-based features. Depending on your device, permissions, and use of the Services, we may process precise location, approximate location, location derived from technical information, or location selected or entered by you. Location may be used to find nearby restaurants, display restaurants on maps, improve restaurant discovery, provide personalized recommendations, improve search results, and support other location-based features.
13. Temporary Location Use
Some location functionality may currently be used temporarily to provide a particular feature rather than being continuously stored as a permanent user profile attribute. The exact handling of location may change as Jigu Bites develops. We may update this Privacy Policy when our use of location information materially changes. You can control location permissions through your device or browser settings. Disabling location access may cause certain features to become unavailable or less accurate.
14. Device and Technical Information
When you use Jigu Bites, we may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, application version, device identifiers, network information, approximate location derived from technical information, error information, performance information, and log information. This information may be used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Jigu Bites.
15. Usage Information
We may collect information about how you interact with Jigu Bites, including pages viewed, restaurants viewed, searches, features used, posts interacted with, reviews viewed and submitted, follows, likes or other interactions, session information, and approximate usage times. This helps us understand how people use the platform and improve the Services.
16. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Jigu Bites may use cookies, local storage, session technologies, device identifiers, pixels, analytics technologies, and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, session management, analytics, performance, personalization, and other legitimate platform functionality. 17. Firebase
Jigu Bites currently uses Firebase services, which may assist with authentication, analytics, notifications, application performance, crash reporting, and other application functionality. The specific Firebase services used by Jigu Bites may change over time. Information processed through Firebase is subject to applicable Google/Firebase terms and privacy practices in addition to this Privacy Policy.
18. Google Analytics
Jigu Bites currently uses Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our Services. Google Analytics may collect usage information, device information, approximate location, interaction information, and technical information. We use analytics information to understand which features are used, how users navigate the platform, platform performance, general usage trends, and areas where the Services can be improved. Our analytics providers and tools may change in the future.
19. Personalized Recommendations
Jigu Bites may provide personalized recommendations influenced by restaurants you view, interact with, or follow; your reviews and ratings; searches; location; preferences; and general usage patterns. The recommendation system may use automated processing. Recommendations are intended to improve restaurant discovery and may not always be accurate or suitable for every user.
20. Information From Restaurants
If you interact with a restaurant or business through Jigu Bites, we may process information related to that interaction, such as reviews, messages, follows, promotions, business interactions, and support requests. Businesses may also provide information about themselves to create or manage their business profiles.
21. Restaurant Business Verification
Restaurants claiming their business profile may be required to submit information or documents for verification, including business information, ownership documents, business registration documents, photographs, videos, contact information, and information about authorized representatives. This information may be reviewed by Jigu Bites administrators or appropriate service providers for verification and fraud prevention.
22. Employee and Business Permissions
Restaurant businesses may be able to add employees or representatives to their business account. We may process information necessary to identify authorized employees, assign roles, manage permissions, maintain account security, record business activity, and investigate unauthorized access. Businesses are responsible for ensuring that people they authorize have appropriate permissions.
23. Information From Third Parties
We may receive information from third-party services when you choose to use them, such as authentication providers, analytics providers, payment providers, mapping providers, communication providers, cloud infrastructure providers, and other service providers. The information received depends on the service and permissions involved.
24. Payments
Jigu Bites may process payments for certain services. Payment-related information may include transaction information, payment status, billing information, subscription information, refund information, and other information required to process transactions. Where third-party payment processors are used, payment information may be processed directly by those providers. Jigu Bites does not necessarily store complete payment-card information.
25. How We Use Information

- Provide restaurant discovery, social features, messaging, and recommendations.
- Process business claims and verify restaurants.
- Process payments and provide customer support.
- Send notifications, OTP messages, service communications, and marketing communications.

- Troubleshoot technical problems, analyze platform performance, and improve Jigu Bites.
- Develop new features and comply with legal obligations.
- Protect our rights and the rights of users.
- Other legitimate purposes related to operating Jigu Bites.
26. Marketing Communications
Jigu Bites may send email marketing, push notifications, promotional communications, product updates, offers, restaurant recommendations, and other marketing messages. You may be able to opt out of certain marketing communications through available controls. Some communications, such as security notifications, account messages, OTP messages, and important service communications, may still be sent when necessary.
27. Sharing Information
We do not sell user personal information. We may share information with appropriate parties when necessary to operate Jigu Bites, including cloud hosting providers, database and infrastructure providers, analytics providers, authentication providers, payment processors, email providers, SMS providers, push notification providers, security providers, customer-support providers, and other technology service providers. Service providers may process information on our behalf and are expected to handle it according to applicable agreements and law.
28. Public Information
Information you intentionally make public may be viewed by Jigu Bites users, restaurants, businesses, search engines, other internet users, and other third parties. Public information may be copied, shared, indexed, or redistributed by others. Jigu Bites cannot guarantee that content voluntarily made public will remain exclusively within Jigu Bites.
29. Legal Requirements
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a valid legal request, protect users or Jigu Bites, investigate fraud or abuse, investigate security incidents, prevent serious harm, enforce our agreements, or protect legal rights. We will seek to limit disclosures to information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose where practicable.
30. Business Transfers
If Jigu Bites is involved in a merger, acquisition, investment, restructuring, sale of assets, corporate reorganization, or other business transaction, information associated with the Services may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
31. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, which may include access controls, authentication mechanisms, encryption where appropriate, secure infrastructure, network controls, monitoring, backups, logging, security reviews, and other reasonable security practices. However, no internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
32. No Absolute Security Guarantee
Although we work to protect your information, technology is never completely risk-free. Security incidents may occur because of software vulnerabilities, hardware failures, human error, cyberattacks, infrastructure failures, third-party failures, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances. We will take reasonable steps to prevent, investigate, mitigate, and respond to security incidents. However, we cannot guarantee that your information or account will never be compromised or lost.
33. Data Loss and Technical Disasters
We maintain reasonable backup and recovery procedures intended to reduce the risk of data loss. However, catastrophic technical events (such as infrastructure failure, database corruption, hardware failure, cyberattack, cloud-provider failure, natural disaster, or human error) could potentially result in partial or widespread loss of information. We will make reasonable efforts to protect and recover information, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of information can always be recovered.
34. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for purposes such as providing the Services, maintaining accounts and reviews, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, business records, backup and disaster recovery, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information.
35. Account Deactivation
If you deactivate your account, your account may become inaccessible or hidden according to the functionality of Jigu Bites. Your reviews may remain associated with the relevant restaurant, but the deactivated account may be hidden or anonymized so that the review is no longer publicly associated with your active profile. This allows useful restaurant information to remain available while reducing the public association with the deactivated account.
36. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account. When your account is deleted, Jigu Bites will generally seek to delete the account and associated personal information, subject to legal obligations, security requirements, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legitimate business requirements, backup systems, and other applicable exceptions. Reviews and other content associated with a deleted account may be deleted according to the applicable deletion process.
37. Backup Copies
Deleted information may continue to exist temporarily in backups. For example, information may remain in a backup created before deletion until that backup expires or is securely overwritten. Jigu Bites currently maintains backup systems intended to support disaster recovery. Backup retention may be limited according to our infrastructure and operational policies.
38. Data Export
You may request a copy of certain personal information associated with your Jigu Bites account. For the current implementation, requests may be made by contacting jigubites@gmail.com. Please use the email address associated with your account where possible. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity before providing account information. Jigu Bites may introduce self-service data export functionality in the future.
39. Identity Verification for Privacy Requests
To protect users from unauthorized requests, we may need to verify your identity before providing personal information, processing deletion requests, processing certain account changes, or providing data exports. We will try to avoid collecting unnecessary information solely for verification.
40. Children's Privacy
Jigu Bites is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly permit children below the applicable minimum age to create accounts. If we become aware that an account belongs to a child below the applicable minimum age, we may take appropriate steps, including deleting the account. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided information to Jigu Bites may contact jigubites@gmail.com.
41. User Responsibility
You are responsible for protecting your password and OTP codes, keeping your account information reasonably accurate, controlling access to your devices, reviewing privacy settings, and considering carefully what information you publish publicly. Do not share your password or authentication codes with others.
42. Your Privacy Choices
Depending on the features available, you may be able to edit profile information, make your social profile private, delete posts, delete reviews, block users, control location permissions, disable certain notifications, opt out of marketing communications, request account deletion, and request a data export. Some information is inherently public because of the way Jigu Bites operates, including published restaurant reviews.
43. Location Controls
You can generally control location permissions through your mobile-device settings, browser settings, or Jigu Bites application permissions. If location access is disabled, certain location-based functionality may not work correctly.
44. Marketing Controls
You may opt out of certain promotional communications through an email unsubscribe mechanism, application notification settings, account settings, or other controls provided by Jigu Bites. You may continue receiving necessary service communications.
45. Third-Party Services
Jigu Bites may use third-party services that have their own privacy policies, including providers for authentication, analytics, cloud infrastructure, maps, payments, email, SMS, push notifications, monitoring, and security. Our third-party service providers may change over time. Where appropriate, this Privacy Policy may be updated when material changes occur.
46. International Transfers
Jigu Bites currently focuses primarily on Nepal but may use infrastructure or service providers located in other countries. As a result, information may potentially be processed or stored outside Nepal. If Jigu Bites expands internationally, additional privacy requirements and jurisdiction-specific policies may apply.

Jigu Bites may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites that we do not operate. You should review the privacy policy of any third-party service before providing personal information.

Jigu Bites may update this Privacy Policy from time to time because of new features, new technologies, new service providers, changes in data practices, legal requirements, security improvements, international expansion, or business changes.
